Rob Young, ODRob Young, OD

Originally from the mid-Missouri area, Dr. Young attended Avila College in Kansas City where he earned his undergraduate degree in X-Ray science with a minor in business. For 7 years he was a special procedure X-Ray specialist in the Kansas City area and also managed a CAT scanning operation providing care to rural Kansas hospitals. After deciding on optometry as a career, Dr. Young attended the Pacific College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon. While at Pacific earning his doctorate, Dr. Young was a Chief Teaching Assistant for the Physiological Optics course and was a member of the Phi Theta Upsilon Optometric Society. Dr. Young is a member of the Oregon Optometric Association, the 1994 treasurer and the 1995 president of the Willamette Optometric Society.

Eric Knutson, ODEric Knutson, OD

Dr. Eric Knutson was born and raised in Iowa and attended St. Olaf College for his undergraduate degree. He received his Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University in 1967. He returned to Iowa to practice for 2 years with his father; he then spent 2 years as a Navy optometrist in Washington D.C. After the Navy, he came to Oregon to become partners with Dr. Robert Holcomb at Valley Eye Care. After practicing together for 21 years, Dr. Holcomb retired and Dr. Young joined the practice 2 years later. Dr. Knutson is a member of the American Optometric Association and has served as a member of the board of its political action committee and its national charity, VisionUSA. He is also a member of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association and served as its President in 1982-83. He was chosen Optometrist of the Year in 1987 and 1994. Dr. Knutson has been the vision consultant to the OSU Athletic department since 1976 and has served on the boards of local groups such as Rotary, the Sister Cities Association, the Children’s Farm Home and the Benton County Historical Society. He was a member of three different eye care mission teams to Ecuador in the early 1990s. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, playing golf, sailing, and reading mystery novels. Dr. Knutson has more spare time to enjoy all these activities since retiring in 2013.

James R. Hale, ODJames R. Hale, OD

Dr. Jim Hale is a native of Corvallis. After graduating from Oregon State University in 1994, he went on to earn his doctor of optometry degree at Pacific University College of Optometry in 1998. Following graduation, Dr. Hale completed an extra year of residency training in advanced eye disease at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center. After completing his residency, Dr. Hale spent 2 years as clinical director of a large laser eye surgery center and then went on to practice in a 25-doctor medical eye care group in the Portland area until 2005. Following the birth of their third child, Dr. Hale and his wife Dee Dee decided to return home to Corvallis where he joined Valley Eye Care. Dr. Hale is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association, Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, and the Rotary Club of Greater Corvallis. Dr. Hale served as President of the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association from 2011-2013.  Currently, Dr. Hale holds a position with the American Optometric Association which gives him the opportunity to work with federal legislators to enhance their understanding of the importance of vision and eye health and to ensure that patients maintain access to eye care across the country.  At Valley Eye Care, Dr. Hale provides the full range of comprehensive vision and eye health care to patients of all ages with a particular interest in medical eye disease management and dry eye syndrome.

Maureen Arthurs, ODMaureen Arthurs, OD

Dr. Maureen Arthurs obtained a bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and then completed her doctorate at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. After graduating with honors, she completed a residency in ocular disease and primary care at the Boston Veterans Affairs Medical Center with additional clinical experience at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Dr. Arthurs enjoys caring for patients of all ages. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Oregon Optometric Physicians Association. In her free time she enjoys reading, hiking, painting, and spending time with her husband and son.
